Humana Senior Application Architect (DevOps) in United States


The Senior Application Architect designs and develops IT applications architecture solutions to business problems in alignment with the enterprise architecture direction and standards. The Senior Application Architect work assignments involve moderately complex to complex issues where the analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.


The Senior Application Architect performs technical planning, architecture development and modification of specifications. Develops specifications for new products/services, applications and service offerings. Assesses the compatibility and integration of products/services proposed as standards in order to ensure an integrated architecture across interdependent applications. Begins to influence department’s strategy. Makes decisions on moderately complex to complex issues regarding technical approach for project components, and work is performed without direction. Exercises considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignments.


  • Define current architecture and set up an architectural Roadmap for various applications in the team

  • Identify issues and architectural gaps including technical Debts and address the same promptly

  • Integrate each application solution into the broader business and IT ecosystem within which it will operate

  • Ensure SLAs and OLAs are established and design meets business defined SLA and team defined OLAs

  • Rethink Routine and pioneer simplicity during any application or project design

  • Emphasize and lead our team in new initiatives such as DevOps, HPSE etc.

  • Create and maintain up-to-date application architectural documents in iServer.

  • Be well prepared to refine or re-define architecture to meet organization’s changing business needs.

  • Experience with integrating legacy systems, mainframes and external services through real-time as well as batch processing.

  • Refine and/or redesign application architecture to be more cost-effective, including the optimal selection of implementation technologies, practices, and skills for application delivery success.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field

  • 7+ experience as a senior developer in large IT projects

  • Prior project architect and/or team lead experience

  • Prior experience in driving DevOps initiatives

  • Excellent communication, both verbal and written as well as negotiation skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree

  • Experience in converting mainframe applications to SOA framework

  • Good knowledge in Cloud Adoption strategy for legacy applications

  • Experience with driving domain level initiatives and stretch assignments

  • Coordinated work with onshore and offshore teams within a global sourcing model
