Humana Health Equity Strategy Lead (Virginia Medicaid) in Richmond, Virginia

Humana Healthy Horizons in Virginia is seeking a Health Equity Strategy Lead who will develop the organization's strategic direction and coordination of health equity initiatives to reduce or eliminate health disparities. The Health Equity Strategy Lead works on problems of diverse scope and complexity ranging from moderate to substantial.

The Health Equity Strategy Lead identifies and addresses differences in physical, behavioral and social health and health outcomes that are systemic, avoidable, unnecessary, unfair and unjust.

  • Serves as an advisor in the development of health equity strategy, with particular focus on implementing CLAS standards, pursuing NCQA Health Equity Accreditation, diversifying the healthcare workforce, engaging underserved populations to develop programs and services, addressing HRSNs, educating associates and providers on Health Equity, and reducing disparities maternal and child health outcomes.

  • Builds, implements, and evaluates evidence-based products and services to help improve access, exceed quality standards, and foster cross-industry collaboration in care coordination, segmented by priority, scope, and condition.

  • Determines high needs areas for improving coordination and connection with aligned external, community-based partners.

  • Leverages market and local assets to build organic coalitions and develop loyalty among external stakeholders for Humana's Virginia Medicaid goals.

  • Collaborates across all departments and business units to promote the highest standard of health for all people.

  • Advises executives to develop functional strategies (often segment specific) on matters of significance.

  • Exercises independent judgment and decision making on complex issues regarding job duties and related tasks and works under minimal supervision.

  • Uses independent judgment requiring analysis of variable factors and determining the best course of action.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree.

  • Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in public health and/or healthcare industry.

  • Two (2) or more years of project leadership experience.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to develop effective relationships with a broad array of individuals (different levels of management and clinical expertise).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree (M.D., PharmD, RN, NP, PA, PhD, MBA, MPH, MPP, or MPA)

  • Experience working directly in communities and understanding health disparities and barriers to health equity.

  • Ability to analyze data and make data-driven recommendations for quality improvement.

  • Experience with program planning, implementation, and evaluation.

Additional Information

  • Workstyle: Remote or Hybrid Home (Associates primarily work from their home office, occasionally using company office space for collaboration and face-to-face needs.)

  • Typical Workdays & Hours: Monday - Friday; 8:00am - 5:00pm Eastern Standard Time (EST).

  • Travel: Minimal, up to 2% (semi-annually) to Humana Healthy Horizons location in Glen Allen, VA for face-to-face meetings and on-site collaboration.

Work at Home Internet Criteria

To ensure Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees' ability to work effectively, the self-provided internet service of Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees must meet the following criteria:

  • At minimum, a download speed of 25 Mbps and an upload speed of 10 Mbps is recommended; wireless, wired cable or DSL connection is suggested.

  • Satellite, cellular and microwave connection can be used only if approved by leadership.

  • Employees who live and work from Home in the state of California, Illinois, Montana, or South Dakota will be provided a bi-weekly payment for their internet expense.

  • Humana will provide Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees with telephone equipment appropriate to meet the business requirements for their position/job.

  • Work from a dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information.

Pay Range

The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.$112,400 - $154,900 per yearThis job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
