The Senior Release Engineer works collaboratively with software engineering to deploy and operate systems. The Senior Release Engineer work assignments involve moderately complex to complex issues where the analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.
The Senior Release Engineer helps automate and streamline operations and processes. Build and maintain tools for deployment, monitoring and operations. Troubleshoot and resolve issues in dev, test and production environments. Begins to influence department’s strategy. Makes decisions on moderately complex to complex issues regarding technical approach for project components, and work is performed without direction. Exercises considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignments.
Create, maintain, and enhance build pipelines as products.
Create, maintain, and enhance release pipelines as products.
Steward and maintain DevOps platforms, including: resource management. platform upgrades, and implementation of standards.
Design, maintain, and advance build agent infrastructure.
Implement, and manage platform security and access.
Establish monitoring, logging, and dashboards to ensure the overall health of the platform(s).
Implement automation into the platform(s) to enable developer self service.
Responsible for creating stellar documentation.
Excellent communication & collaboration skills necessary.
Partner with and assist the developer community in their journey to adopt DevOps principles & practices.
Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field
5+ years of technical experience
Systems Development Lifecycle (SDLC) knowledge and practice
Strong knowledge of the DevOps tool chain on Linux/windows platforms; Azure DevOps/Jenkins, .Net/Python/C++/Java, Ansible, Puppet, Confluence, Git, Jasmine, chocolaty, cloud formation, terraform, etc
Scripting experience with PowerShell or equivalent
Ability to coordinate cross-functional work teams toward task completion
Customer and quality focused with excellent attention to detail
Effective leadership and analytical skills
Advanced written and verbal communication
Experience working in an Agile environment.
Fluency in .Net/Java or other object-oriented programming languages.
Experience developing web-based applications built on IIS and SQL Server (or similar technology stack).
