The Senior Business Intelligence Engineer solves complex business problems and issues using data from internal and external sources to provide insight to decision-makers. The Senior Business Intelligence Engineer work assignments involve moderately complex to complex issues where the analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.

Responsibilities

The Senior Business Intelligence Engineer describes the tools, technologies, applications and practices used to collect, integrate, analyze, and present an organization's raw data in order to create insightful and actionable business information. Begins to influence department’s strategy. Makes decisions on moderately complex to complex issues regarding technical approach for project components, and work is performed without direction. Exercises considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignments.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree

  • 5+ years of experience in data analysis

  • Experience in writing ad-hoc SQL queries, exposure to or experience in SQL development - PL/SQL, T-SQL).

  • Analytical mindset, with attention to detail

  • Experience with a data visualization tools and BI Tools(s), e.g., Qlik and Tableau

  • Ability to understand business needs and translate to BI solutions

  • Competence to troubleshoot and test reporting solutions from back to front end

  • Relationship focused and can represent the “office of the CRO” well to both internal and external audiences

  • Systems thinking mindset, to understand implications of a decision across the entire enterprise

  • Strong organization skills, and proven track record or large initiative support

  • Experience in defining and executing measurement programs

  • Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications including Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint

  • Advanced experience working with big and complex data sets within large organizations

  • Experience analyzing data to solve a wide variety of business problems and create data visualizations that drive strategic direction

  • Proficiency in understanding Healthcare related data

  • Proficiency in verbal and written communication

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced Degree

  • Advanced in SQL and other data systems

  • Expertise in data mining, forecasting, simulation, and/or predictive modeling

  • Experience creating analytics solutions for various healthcare sectors

  • Strong knowledge of database and business intelligence concepts

  • Enterprise thinking, and strategic perspective

  • Problem-solving and project management skills

  • Demonstrated ability to present to senior-level executives

  • Broad understanding of our businesses and connectedness to key Humana constituent areas
