The Associate Director, Systems Engineering is responsible for design, analysis, configuration and maintenance of complex systems software solutions, based on a thorough knowledge of systems engineering and programming concepts and techniques. Systems software engineering/programming is a specialized area of software engineering/programming focused on software that operates/controls computer hardware and provides a platform for running end user applications. Includes operating systems, device drivers, utilities, and software; development tools (e.g., assemblers, compilers, etc.). The Associate Director, Systems Engineering requires a solid understanding of how organization capabilities interrelate across department(s).

Responsibilities

The Associate Director, Systems Engineering develops and/or modifies systems software for use internally, conducts requirements gathering and analysis, writes code using lower-level assembly languages and/or higher-level languages (e.g., C) and translates/compiles into machine language for use on specific hardware, and supports software testing, deployment, and maintenance activities by correcting programming errors and coding software enhancements. Decisions are typically related to identifying and resolving complex technical and operational problems within department(s), and could lead multiple managers or highly specialized professional associates.

Required Qualifications

Typically requires Bachelor's Degree or equivalent, 6+ years of technical and 2+ years of management experience

Preferred Qualifications

The candidate should have a proven track record of driving innovation at a large enterprise. This position will need to work autonomously at the direction of leadership in proactively developing relationships, determining areas of improvement and ability to stay focused on delivering innovative process and technology solutions.

The candidate’s focus areas include but are not limited to Cloud First initiatives, Virtual Desktop and Application technologies and will be leading managers who’s teams will drive the technical aspects of these innovations.

Candidate must have proven track record of managing change whether technology or process across all areas of innovation, showing ability to drive through challenges & obstacles through strategic relationships and without escalation.

Must be willing to bring all technology improvements in a rapid, but organized and agile manner – with continual focus on improvement opportunities and proactive measures for the consumer.

Candidate needs to have good communication skills – being able to present to peers and leadership inside and outside the organization.

Candidate must have good organizational skills to handle multiple initiatives and priority shifts while still driving overall success of innovation and transformation.

Additional Information

This individual will be responsible for leading the vision and strategy around changing the way we do Software Certifications, focusing on the new way of thinking about software at Humana, via the Software Governance group, bringing innovative thinking to the CTS Support organization, focusing on the driving the virtualized desktop and applications to conform to the cloud first thinking we have at Humana. This person will need to be self-driven, laser focused and aggressive in adapting to new technologies and new ways of thinking in this space. They should have a proven record of driving innovative solutions to fruition with the proper change management tools that engage and gain buy-in from our associates and consumers
